The Death Dealer opens THE EYE!

Hey folks, Harry here... Death Dealer below is going to be reviewing the Pang Brothers' magnificent THE EYE based upon the asian market DVD that has been released, but folks... I saw this on the big screen in Sitges and holy shit does it bury the shoe in the ass of an audience. It is sad that we currently live in the U.S. market where studios and production companies buy the rights for these movies, bury the originals where we can only seek them out on All Region DVDs and thus cheating us out of a chance to experience the films the way they were meant to be seen. Of course... maybe that's just me. I love the new version of THE RING, but I would be all the way happy with Dreamworks if at the same time they released the Japanese version of the film on DVD with a preview for the American version onto the market right now. That way folks could see both without having to resort to Ebay or foreign Dvd sellers. Oh well... Here ya go....

To     Mr.Knowles,

I am sending you this e-mail because I have seen "The Eye" and would like to give you my review.....Some Spoilers.

This movie makes American horror movies now a days look like an episode from the Teletubbies. If you want to see a quality horror movie you don't turn to the Americans like we used to, you must now turn to the Japanese for horror films. Now enough of that, lets get into the Review of the Pang Brothers Classic film Called "The Eye".

I was able to get my hands on the Dvd version, with a DTS track of "The Eye" from Ebay. The Pang Brothers have made not very many films in their career, but they have made one which comes to mind quickly which is "Bangkok Dangerous", a classic action film, which makes you think that the guys have talent for making any kind of movie in any genre. "The Eye" is a film that can get under you skin and I would not recommend it for the faint of heart. This film starts to terrify you as soon as the Opening Credits finish, and the angles and the directing is so good that you can not take your eyes off it. That brings me to my next point which is that you do not need alot of money, or alot of stars to be in your movies the only thing you need is is a good screenplay and a good director, then you are set. After the film is over I started thinking about the film and alot of good ideas that were coming to mind. For example the girl can not see properly but it is also said that dogs can see things that which we can't, such as sprits and ghosts. Well in a way she is kind of a dog because dogs can't see well and neither can she and they both can see things that regular humans like me and you would not be able to. But back to the film, there are parts in the film which made chills go down my spine and that's no figure of speech because it actually did happen during the film. For a few days I was just stunned and could not get this film out of my head because it truly terrified me which rarely happens to me and trust me I have seen some of the greatest horror movies out there and alot in all kinds of languages, and for those of you who are looking for the story line here it is: It is about a woman who is blind but is cured and can see again but when she can see again she gets more then she bargained for. The thing I am hoping for is that they don't do to what they did to a classic film called "Ringu" which make an American remake of it, but I heard some news that Tom Cruise brought the rights to make "The Eye" which brings bad news to my ears. Because americans can not make horror movies like they used to. And I really hope The Pang Brothers don't go commercial like John Woo did when he made one of the worst war film ever called "Windtalkers". The film is a spectacular movie which is to be a land mark in not just horror history but in movie history itself and it will get you alot of frights and jumps out of you, and be careful when you watch this film because it will GET UNDER YOUR SKIN....I REPEAT UNDER YOUR SKIN. People if there is a film out that will scare and make you sleep with your nighty lighty on and make you want to cry for your mommy, this is that film.
