A New Ray Harryhausen Film'! Excuse ME'!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

This is damn fine news. I can’t wait to get a look at this for myself, and I know that I’d pretty much flip to have this at Butt-Numb-A-Thon this year.

Anyway... check this out:

TORTOISE AND THE HARE

Ray Harryhausen's New Film!

Your eyes aren't deceiving you, the legendary animator/SFX guru Ray Harryhausen, whose artistry graces films like JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, MIGHTY JOE YOUNG and numerous other sci-fi/fantasy classics, has finished a new film, THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE. The film, begun in 1952, was to be the sixth in a series of self-funded shorts based on classic Mother Goose tales, but Harryhausen was forced to shelve the film as he became involved with bigger projects. Now half a century later, with the assistance of Seamus Walsh, Mark Caballero and their stud io, Screen Novelties, Int'l, the film has finally been completed and is now making the festival rounds. Amazingly enough, the same puppets from 1952 were used for the production of this film, and Harryhausen's original footage was restored and incorporated into the new film. Harryhausen himself even animated a few new scenes for the film, something he hasn't done since retiring twenty-two years ago. The film will have a private "sneak preview" screening in LA next week, and will also be in competition at the upcoming Ottawa International Animation Festival in early October.

Private? Sneak preview? LA?!

I’ll make anyone who can get me in an honorary henchman. I’ll make sure you get a cool badge and everything!!

"Moriarty" out.
