SuperDave gives GOLDMEMBER a Looky-poo!

Hey folks, Harry here... I've yet to see a single shot from Austin Powers 3, hear a single joke from Austin Powers 3... Anything from Austin Powers 3 that has made me think it was funny in the least. Now the reviewer below claims it is the funniest of the lot... That much of the humor is far rauncier than the previous films, that the sight gags go far far further than they've gone before. Of course I'm the wacko that didn't care for the original, liked the second one a lot more... So is the third one the charm? We'll see...

Hey, Love your site!

It's Sunday and I haven't seen any reviews of AP3: Goldmember yet.  I don't know if you've gotten them and not posted em yet, or If I'm gonna be the first to tell you Austin Powers in Goldmember ROCKS!!!

I got to see AP3 on Friday at 10:00 at the theater that  I work,,,,at (too many 'at's', baby)  I wasn't really sure if the Jay Roach/Mike Myers team would be able to pull it off a third time, and that seems to be a common concern with many people that I meet.  But I have to say the this one is much better than the 2nd one, and I loved the 2nd one.  It may even  be better than the original.

I don't believe in giving away spoilers so you won't find any here.  I think the movie is better if you are presented with the details and plot twists as your seeing the movie.  The advertisements ask you if you can "keep a secret" and I can.  But 'Goldmember' changes the whole story of Austin Powers.  Finally these characters are able to grow and change, the AP universe is completely different at the end of this film than it is at the start.

The opening sequence is hands down the best opening in all three films, and never seems to want to end.  It starts off with a band and a Cameo, and for the next 10 mins, it's Joke, Cameo, Joke, Joke, Cameo, Cameo, ROTFLOL, Joke, Joke, Cameo, Cameo,.....ah, you get the picture.

Mike Myers is just as funny as ever, playing 4 characters know, Austin, Dr Evil, Fat Bastard, and a new character, Goldmember.  I didn't really like Goldmember that much, I guess I didn't get the joke, but he actually has a small part, smaller than Fat Bastard in AP2, so the movie strikes a good balance Fat Bastard makes an appearance, just to remind everyone of his part in AP2.  Dr Evil has been the best character in the both of the first two, and he is still the best part of the movie, Dr. Evil fans won't be disappointed.

Mini Me has a bigger role than before, and is much funnier.  I didn't think the 1/8 size clone of myself joke couldn't get any funnier, but they found away.  TRIPOD!!!!!lol!!!!

As much as I dislike Destiny's Child, and as much as I wanted to hate Beyonce Knowles (You guy's are related Harry, aren't you!  Just admit and be done with it, lol J/K) in this movie, I have to give her credit, because she was great as Foxy Cleopatra.  She was funny, charismatic, and A much better actress than I was expecting.  She was much better than Heather Graham in TSWSM.  Hey, don't flame me, I Loooooooove Heather Graham, she's a great actress, but she was off her game in AP2.  (I just looked up AP3 on IMBD, and it says Heather Graham is in Goldmember, but I don't remember seeing her.  Austin didn't explain what happened to Felicity Shagwell, at least not that I recall (it has been two days, and I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning).

I don't think anyone could have been as good or as funny as Nigel Powers, than Michael Caine.  Extraordinary.  That pretty much sums it up.  He managed to take an older version of Austin(which is of coarse the Joke, 'the apple dosn't fall far from the tree') and make him all his own. Michael Caine IS Austin's Dad, and after you see him, you'll agree no one else could be.

The entire cast is just perfect, Mindy Sterling, Michael York, Robert Wagner, and Seth Green are all as funny as ever.

The movie does a great job of bringing back jokes from the first 2 films (SHARKS WITH FRIGGIN' LAZER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!!!!!!!), the sight gag 'images behind a screen' (OK they go a little far with that one) AND the rocket shaped like a Giant ......But they never over stay their welcome like they did in the previous films.  And they come up with some really funny new stuff like a bit with subtitles that's really good, and 'As much as it look's like Godzilla, due to copyright laws, I assure you it's not Godzilla!'

All of the Cameo's that I recognized were terrific!  Make sure you don't miss the beginning!!!!  EVERYONE: GET THERE EARLY! BEFORE THE LAST TRAILER ENDS!  You'll all want to see the movie from the beginning, other wise you'll miss one of THE FUNNIEST Moments in the whole film.  It's in the first 2 mins.

In conclusion, You know how you see the trailers and commercials for a film and you think the movie is going to be really funny, but then you see the movie, and you realize that the Funniest stuff was IN THE TRAILERS? (M II B)  Don't you hate that? Austin Powers Is Much funnier than what you've seen in the trailer.  After seeing it, I realize that the Funniest Stuff, they couldn't put in the trailers.  Be forewarned: This movie is a little raunchy-ier than the first two.  I don't usually like gross out humor, or fart jokes, but this movie has done them well, and I can't help but laugh.

 YEA, BABY, YEA!!!!!

Call me Superdave

P.S.: My favorite line?  Austin to Dr. Evil: 'I always thought you were crazy, but now I can see you're nuts'  When you see the sight gag that goes with that, come back and tell me it wasn't the best Austin Powers movie Yet!
