Harry here... FUCK THIS! I loathe Paul Anderson movies... Loathe them the way I loathe BATMAN & ROBIN or ROLLERBALL. They're just things that didn't need to exist. Paul Anderson continually makes mediocre films at outrageous prices. He has taken a great script (SOLDIER) and turned out trash. He's been given gobs and gobs of cash and flushed out on to our screens with turkeys like EVENT HORIZON. He made RESIDENT EVIL which felt like the pansiest loud noisy obnoxiously castrated zombie flick in years! Now they want to trust that guy with ALIENS VS PREDATOR? FUCK THIS! We've been waiting for a zillion years for this flick to get made and now they're gonna shovel it off to this.... ahem... talent... ARGH!!! Why do they hurt us so? ARGH!!!

Good news first. Aliens vs. Predator is alive again.
Bad News (Really Bad News): Apparently Paul Anderson is now the #1 contender to get the project, based on the strength of the pitch he gave.
To me this is a terrible way to go. The guy screwed up "Soldier" (which could have been great), "Resident Evil" (A zombie movie with no balls, and certainly no bite) and "Event Horizon" (don't even get me started). I'll admit that I loved "Mortal Kombat" when I saw it, but it was a combination of being a rabid fan of the game, and having never been exposed to martial arts with some VFX razzle dazzle. Now, about 9 years later, I can barely watch it.
Is this person worthy to bring one of Sci-Fi fandom's most wettest of dreams to the screen?
Personally, I don't think he's worthy. But apparently FOX & Davis Entertainment think that because he made "Resident Evil" look twice as expensive as it cost, perhaps he's the one. I've always went into Paul Anderson's movies WANTING TO LOVE THEM. But he never delivers. Find someone who really LOVES anyone of his movies. Shit, find someone who LIKES more than one of them. Good luck.
I hope the studios see that this guy has a clear history of screwing up prime material, and go with someone who can deliver the goodness we all have been dreaming of.
