STAR WARS EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES Reviews Begin Popping Up OnLine!

Well folks, Harry here... Like I told y'all, there will be no film released this summer that'll be able to compete against ATTACK OF THE CLONES... It is the most action filled entertaining film in the Star Wars Saga. For me, it comes in third behind Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, but for a couple below... it is second only to Empire. In terms of thrills and action, that is a no-brainer, but for heart and soul... it isn't quite there in my book, but damn if I'm disappointed to have not gotten in last night. Oh well, at least I shot a commercial with Errol Morris while here in NY. BEWARE OF SPOILERS... here are the reviews... prepare to have goosebumps....

Harry,

Just saw episode II here in Dallas and it was awesome. I attached my commentary I just posted on your website below. I could go on and on , but just commented on the Yoda/Dooku fight. WOW! Could not believe how they blew away the previous one. They got back to the roots of 4,5,6 and then some. The crowd loved it and it was awesome on the big screen here in Dallas. All Digital, sound was dialed in. It was a Fox screening for some corporate sponsors. I love the way they just set up everything to a tee, the evil brilliance of Palpatine and Dooku is awesome. At one point I found myself trying to figure out, 'Is anyone good here'? Turns out they were all evil and just creating this conflict for their own gain. All the while using the good guys as puppets in their own little show. Lucas really nailed this one from start to finish. Most action of any Star Wars yet. Love the site, keep it up.

Just one Thing. DO NOT FUCK WITH YODA. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE BATTLE BETWEEN YODA AND COUND DOOKU. Just as Harry said, I could not believe Yoda could be a badass, but he is. This film rivals all of the other ones to date. Anakin and Obi Wan promptly get their ass kicked by Dooku and it looks like trouble. Yoda then slowly saunters into the scene and confronts Dooku. When he drops that little cane on the ground you can tell he is pissed. Dooku and he trade lighting and Dooku says something to the effect of 'this can only be settled by light saber' At that point you think little ass Yoda is in trouble, but never fear. He whips out his little mini-saber and goes to town. The ensuing battle is one for the ages. Just saw a screening here in Dallas, TX of the all digital variety. It Rocked!!!!

Here's Ronald's review of ATTACK OF THE CLONES... He was the first person to publish a review of THE PHANTOM MENACE, last time out, which he felt was boring and not what he wanted to see. Well, this time... it is a different tune...

"This is a Star Wars film

I won't waste any time in saying that Attack Of The Clones is the most remarkable Star Wars film to date. It not only breathes new life into the series, but it brings us back to the original magic that made Star Wars a cultural phenomenon. It is ultimately the Empire Strikes Back of this new saga, that takes us to the darkest corners of the Star Wars universe, as we come face-to-face with the master plan of Darth Sidious."

"The action scenes in AOTC are the best I have ever seen in any movie. All of them are outstanding. I must have felt goose bumps all over my body a dozen times throughout the movie."

This one will be coming soon...

Joel's review will be popping up here later today...

Next we have Hyper Monkey, who says this is the STAR WARS film he's waited years to see... and I couldn't agree more...

Hey Harry! Thanks to a good friend of mine, I was able to attend the screening of “Attack of the Clones” today in Kansas City. During the past several weeks, I found myself getting more and more excited about this film. No matter how hard I have tried to contain my enthusiasm, my efforts have proved futile. The onslaught of new previews and Star Wars merchandise has been simply too overwhelming for me. Don’t get me wrong, I think part of the thrill of a new Star Wars movie is the anticipation. I remember how jazzed I was to after seeing the first “Empire Strikes Back” preview and how I couldn’t wait for that movie to open. I remember drawing pictures of what I thought the space ships in “Return of the Jedi” would look like when it finally opened, and I remember my fourth grade teacher telling me I spent entirely too much time daydreaming about “Star Wars” and not enough time concentrating on my school work. What did she know? She obviously didn’t understand the true power of the force or appreciate the kick-ass “Star Wars” toys that were being churned out by the geniuses at Kenner! I also remember how excited I was for “The Phantom Menace” to open. I had such great expectations for that film. I had convinced myself that it would be the best “Star Wars” movie yet and perhaps even the greatest film ever. I was so sure I would love it. Harry, that film broke my heart. I had wanted it to be so much more. I had expected it to be so much more. God damn it Harry, it should have been more! It should have been better!

So you see, I didn’t want to get excited about “Attack of the Clones.” Not like I had been with “The Phantom Menace.” I didn’t want to be disappointed again. It just hurt too much. That’s why I tried so hard not to get caught up with the “Attack of the Clones” hype. I need not have worried. “Attack of the Clones” is everything “The Phantom Menace” should have been. This is the “Star Wars” film that I have waited years to see. Harry, I absolutely LOVED “Attack of the Clones!” I say that without hesitation. I think everything in this film works, and works well. I cannot wait to see this movie again on opening day.

Thanks for taking the time to read my brief review. Keep up the good work with your internet site!

Best regards,

Hyper-Monkey

Here's the most reserved thus far... of course it comes from the greedy as hell Fred C Dobbs....

Hey Harry...Fred C. Dobbs here...you know, when you're wandering in the Mexican desert, searching for gold, you can see many strange and mysterious things - mirages if you will...why, as I lay here, broke and dehydrated, I happened to see such a vision...it was of a time long, long ago and in a galaxy far, far away...it was a little vision called Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones...I gotta say, it was much better than the vision I had three years ago...

All foolishness aside, I was fortunate enough to catch a screening of AotC this morning. My excitement for this film was genuine, but reserved - I still feel burned by TPM. This film was a definite improvement over Episode I. I think having a co-writer really helped Lucas on this project, as this flick MOVES. No more of the tedious exposition, the mitawhatevers....from the end of the title crawl, the story starts moving forward and never stops...of course, it isn't all laser battles & light sabers: Ani and Amidala do need to find some time to fall in love...

The performances were quite good, especially Natalie Portman & Hayden Christensen...there were points where I really just wanted to reach into the screen and slap the arrogant little brat, but I don't screw with a teenager in possession of a lightsaber...and hey, if he made me want to smack him around, he did his job as he was supposed to be playing a little shit with too much power & too little training to control himself...

So the story kept on track, the acting was good and the film wasn't boring, but was it perfect? Unfortunately, no. All the time I was sitting there, I kept thinking "wow, what a damn cool sci-fi movie this is" and I kept waiting for something more, but it never (okay, almost never) built to anything beyond popcorn fun...there was no electric tingle in my bones, none of the magic that sparks every time I watch IV or V (and even bits of VI)...I'll certainly see it a couple more times in the theater & will be proud to own it on DVD when it is released...I just hope he nails Episode III...

Harry, I can provide more details if you need some, but I think I'll leave it for now without the spoilers...signing off from the Sierra Madre,

Fred C. Dobbs

Next is Chelveston The Duck who just shared a teeny bit here and there...

Long time reader- first time reviewer.

I got very lucky today to be invited to a sneak preview of Attack of the Clones in Chicago. AWESOME! While nothing can compare to the first time I saw the orginal Star Wars when I was seven years old, this installment by Grand Master Lucas certainly continues in the proud tradition.

So much better than Phantom Menace, Attck has a "dark side". The coming out of Anakin's aggression and use of hate, the legacy of the Fett family, the emporer's behind the scenes manipulations, and of course Yoda kicking ass were all major positives.

Damn, it's such a long wait till we get to find out what happens next!

Call me Chelveston the Duck!

Harry here with Sean Teague's review which will give ya goosebumps... It'll make ya smile and feel the skin go bumpy!

Episode II Review:

I will always remember May 2, 2002 as the day I took a trip to a galaxy far, far away, and rediscovered something I haven’t felt in a movie theater since…well, since the summer of ’83: Unmitigated satisfaction. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones delivers enough fun, excitement, and thrills, one wonders if George Lucas didn’t have a sly grin on his face each time a critic proclaimed the first installment of his new trilogy a dismal failure. It is clear to this viewer that every element of Episode I was carefully calculated to lay a strong foundation which Episode II masterfully builds upon. In fact, what makes this film most enjoyable is the payoff received from events that had their seemingly lackluster origins in the first installment. In AOTC, Lucas weaves an entertaining blend of Saturday-matinee high jinks with equal parts drama and humor. There is much more to laugh with in this picture than there was to laugh at in the last one. At the same time, there is an emotional core to this story that occupies a void not filled in the Star Wars universe since Han Solo took his carbon shower. The standout moment is Shmi Skywalker’s death scene, in which Anakin watches his mother, tortured by a clan of Tuskin Raiders, die in his arms. Many familiar characters get dusted off and fleshed out in this chapter, the obvious crowd favorite being Boba Fett, who is seen here as a child. Surprisingly, it is his father, Jango Fett, which garners the most interest. Still, Baby Fett manages to provide some great moments. In fact, the Fett Family experience almost eclipses Anakin’s plight.

If George’s love affair with CGI is somewhat overwhelming, the Sound Department more than makes up for it, with sound effects so stunning, you could keep your eyes closed through-out the entire run of the film and still see every moment as clear as day. Visually, there is enough going on to warrant six trips to your local multiplex, and you’ll still discover new moments while watching the DVD, for the eighth time. Truly, the only thing missing in this film is Episode III.

Here's DarthSpall's little review that has left him speechless, here ya go....

Hey Geek of Geeks,

I just saw Ep 2.. and I have to say you were right, Harry. Incredible. I was a bit disappointed for the first 20-30 minutes.. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it just seemed a bit lame and a little slow. However, when the shit starts going down with Jango, it's great ride from there on.

I cannot believe how good this turned out. Yoda is the bomb, yo.. and Mace was one bad mother fucker.

I'm sort of speechless right now.. but I wanted to drop you a line and say your review was pretty on, my man. The biggest disappointment for me was some of the comedy with threepio.. but I think this is the 2nd best of the 5.. (ESB is still the king)

Take it easy..
