Guillermo Del Toro to create a live-action/cgi THE WIND AND THE WILLOWS

Hey folks, Harry here... nearly a week ago we got word that Disney was contemplating making a live action WIND AND THE WILLOWS. I really just didn't trust Disney too much upon this concept until I heard from Guillermo Del Toro that he was considering it. For the past week or so, Guillermo has been talking about the possibilities in making WIND AND THE WILLOWS, and with him behind the film I think that the movie has a chance to be magical, and to not be too 'disneyed'.

Now this wouldn't be the next project for Guillermo, he has a couple of other projects he's working on in the meanwhile. God willing he'll next be making a HELLBOY movie and/or COFFIN.

His plan on WIND AND THE WILLOWS is to take the time necessary to nail the script and the design for the film, which he seems to think is a very long process for this type of project. Maybe taking as long as 3 years, though it might come together faster. The key thing to Del Toro doing WIND AND THE WILLOWS is that Guillermo is very much MR TOAD. He gets addicted to the latest technologies, the latest cool things. He gets manic over acquiring the most important things in life like the original contract that Swan had the Phantom sign in PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE. Just imagine a WIND AND THE WILLOWS made with the same care that THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE was made. Could be very cool, so long as Disney stays hands off.
