Over at Coming Attractions' KILL BILL page they've been running some recent casting bits and news that have been a bit off. If you click on the above link, I will attempt to set some of it straight for y'all.
January 8th Report
Rumor 1 - No comment
Rumor 2 - Michael Madsen is indeed playing Bud (one 'd') (aka SIDEWINDER) however he is not 'The Bride's brother, but rather Bill's. Now before you think that makes him an ally of Bill, you're dead wrong Like just about everyone else, he thinks Bill is a complete prick. Madsen will be a god for this role.
Rumor 3 - Don't know, but Quentin never mentioned this to me when talking about the script and music.
Rumor 4 - I hear the same and I'm pulling for Bridget Fonda to be the one that Arquette isn't. But we'll see.
Rumor 5 - Jason Biggs... Well this rumor was modified to state the next day by a new source that he's playing Bill's son. Um, no. Bill does not have a son. Bill does have progeny, but not anyone remotely near the age of Jason Biggs.
The same report stated that Quentin got excited about Uma after she tested... Um, She co-created the character and premise with Quentin. There has never been anyone else for the part, it was always Uma, and she certainly never 'tested' for the part. Uma is THE BRIDE, in fact she's the one that made her 'THE BRIDE'. Also Beatty has been committed for well over 8 or 9 months now.
As has been stated in ASIA-AICN shooting begins in June in Japan and it will also shoot in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Mexico and Austin, Texas - That's where Madsen comes in!
The plan as stated here when I talked to Quentin was to begin major combat training with his actresses in March, start shooting in June, handle post with a hopeful debut at Cannes 2003, begin shooting on GLORIOUS BASTARDS late summer/early fall 2003 for release that following year. Somewhere in the Fall of 2003 sometime he'll probably release KILL BILL (I'm hoping for a Summer 2003).
All of that timing info is confirmed with Quentin. And is THE PLAN. Currently Quentin is in Hong Kong... or he was two days ago when I got a report from a reader that ran into him on the street with a couple of buddies who Quentin was talking fave Asian Cinema picks.
Also, you shouldn't forget that Quentin has discussed a part with Lucy Liu as the leader of the Crazy Eighty-Eights... and part of what will be, if shot as written... be the coolest martial arts battle ever filmed bar none.

Talk Backers... I'm not talking down at Coming Attractions, just correcting their story, just like they have done me, time after time. We're all out here to watch each other's backs and to follow up on each others' stories. Why run this story? I've picked up about 30 some odd emails from folks that read the original story on C.A. and decided to just settle the story. I'm the first to admit AICN has gotten bad rumors, it happens to all the net sites. This isn't an ego thing, it is just about getting the story right, so that rumors don't spread erroneously when the right information is known.
