Harry here with the latest look at RESIDENT EVIL, do we need to see MATRIX / CTHD martial art kung fu work on Zombie hell? Well, I loved it when that Preacher kicked ass for the lord in that visionary genius zombie flick, but that was just plain fun. Hopefully so is this. Hopefully this movie maintains the balls that these advance reviews claim it has through to release, without some prick pulling out the clippers and snip snip snip them off. Here's Jesse....
Hey Harry. This is my first time writing to you, but hopefully not the last.
This past monday I was invited to a special early screening of Resident Evil: Genesis. I'll get to the point fast. The movie was O.K. nothing to be exited about though. As an action popcorn flick I thought it was good but that's as far as it goes.
What was wrong with it you ask. Well for starters I never heard of anyone from resident evil kicking around like if she was in "crouching tiger" or "matrix". The dialogue seemed like something out of "Smallville". The acting was at some points awful (at one point the main character Alice was shooting killer dogs, but had no face expression at all, she was just standing there!). Of course there are more bad moments in the movie but my memory is fuzzy.
Well lets get to the good thing in all this. First The story is VERY entertaining. I enjoyed it very much. The action was dead on (except for the kung-fu scenes). The ending was AWESOME! but it would have been better if the main character was crying and they had a sad song. There's TONS of violence and blood, which is great for this film, and the liker looks great.
Overall I think this movie just might make it if the director were to make some small and some BIG changes. I think they have enough time to fix them. If I were to rate this film from a scale of 1 to 5 i would give it a 3.7.
For those of you who are asking if its faithful to the game. Well... its not as good as the games, but at least it didn't turn out to be the the HUMONGOUS PIECE OF SHIT that was "Tomb Raider". I Think that with the help a fellow hard-core RE gamer like myself it could turn out to be a fantastic film.
P.S. After the film was over someone yelled out "YEAH PAUL ANDERSON" and then someone else replied by yelling "FUCK PAUL ANDERSON, THIS MOVIE SUCKED!!". Well you can't please everyone. By the way i think the movie would have been better if they added the Tyrant. But I understand why they didn't. You can call me Jesse Garson.
