UPDATED: A Review Of The ATTACK OF THE CLONES Teaser On Front Of MONSTERS INC!!!

Harry here with clarification:

Harry;

Saw your report on AICN about the teaser trailer. I just want to clarify that we have posted TWO trailer descriptions. The first we posted Monday and it is identical to yours:

That is the one attached to Monsters Inc. We then posted a SECOND one which you linked to on your site.

That is for the next trailer which we've been told will be attached to Harry Potter. I can confirm that it IS a legitimate description. You can also expect a THIRD teaser exclusively online on November 9th. They're releasing like one a week.

I'd be most appreciative if you'd clarify this on your site so nobody else is confused.

Later!

Scott

Hey folks, Harry here... Got this trailer description of the EPISODE II Trailer... I compared it to the one that TheForce.Net got and it appears to be fairly radically different. SO... Is their trailer description bogus or is this one? Well time will certainly tell, to read TF.N's CLICK HERE and to read ours... read on...

..if you want it. I attended a screening of Monsters Inc. (wonderful, by the way, but not on the level of Toy Story) this morning and attached to it was the first Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones teaser trailer. Quite frankly, I was floored. In fact, it took more than a few minutes to calm down and concentrate on the actual feature I was there to see. Of course, as I had this same reaction to the Phantom Menace trailer, I remain cautiously optimisic about how this second film will actually pan out. But anyway, here's what I saw (and forgive me if some of the details are hazy as I sat through 90 plus minutes of Pixar and then made the long drive home before sitting down to email).

The trailer starts with the standard "Lucasfilm" logo and then fades to black. Out of the total silence we hear the sound of Darth Vadar breathing menacingly. Then a montage of shots from the new film begins. The breathing, however, continues throughout the entire thing (i'm guessing 30 seconds, but that could be way off). In fact, there is no music whatsoever and certainly no voice over (thank god). Besides Vadar's breathing, there are only a few sharp, pointed and deep notes that sound as if they've been lifted from Maul's TPM theme.

The images themselves are breathtaking. There is a long shot of what I think is Theed, although it appears to be on a shore line of some sort.

There is a close up of a fully computer-generated Yoda and much to my surprise, it looks great. Very, very detailed. The wrinkles in his forehead are clear and move in conjunction with the rest of his face when he raises an eyebrow to ...

... Mace Windu, looking very thoughtful and wearing the same brown rope he wore in TPM.

We see shots of Anakin and Amidala (Natalie Portman looks GREAT) and a fairly passionate kiss between the two.

We also see someone rocketing up a tall spire (but not the Jedi temple) in a Boba-Fett back pack. Probably Jango Fett. Very cool.

There is another very interesting shot of Obi-Wan floating in some sort of man-made, bluish force-field. It looks like he's either asleep or has been knocked out. Could this be the cloning proceedure?

We see Anakin and Obi-Wan charge down a walkway, sabers drawn. Cut to a shot of Anakin in a furious light saber battle with a figure too shrouded in the darkness to make out.

We see a city of orbital structures built right smack dab out of the middle of the ocean. Kinda looks like the Stromberg's lair in "Spy Who Loved Me."

We also see Watto floating around with a saucer-like hat on, (the same one that the actual actor {Andy something, I can't remember his name} wore while walking through the scenes with Liam Neeson) as well as C3PO looking a bit more finished. Then there's Artoo standing in eery blue light lined out like a grid on the floor.

Mixed in with all these images (they're probably out of order, sorry, the ol' brain ain't what it used to be) is a terrific shot of literally thousands of droids walking up a HUGE ramp into a HUGE transport ship of somekind. The sheer number of droids (could be battle droids, the shot is from far above the action) dwarfs anything we saw in TPM's final battle. Amazing.

Well, that's about it. The words "The saga continues: summer 2002" pop up following the preview and then there was only stunned silence in the theater. Lucas has said this installment is considerably darker and judging by this short, short trailer, it appears he wasn't pulling our collective leg.

By the way, Jar Jar is nowhere to be seen in the trailer, nor is Palpatine, Dooku, or Jimmy Smitts.

Well, thanks Harry. Hope this helps.
