Jude Law steps into Michael Caine's shoes... again... for SLEUTH! But this time Branagh's gonna direct!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I guess it's a testament to the quality of the pictures Michael Caine made in his youth that it seems every single picture he did is being remade today. GET CARTER, THE ITALIAN JOB, ALFIE and then there was that rumor that the Coen Bros were wanting to remake the fantastic and underseen GAMBIT. I guess the odds are also in his favor considering he was in about a thousand movies.

Anyway, it's time to add SLEUTH on to that remake list, with Jude Law again stepping into role Caine played in the original. The flick is about an older author (of thrillers) who loses his wife to a young hairdresser. The author uses his talents and comes up with a radically complex plan for revenge. In the original, Caine played the young hairdresser and Laurence Olivier played the writer, but now Caine is playing the writer and Law the thieving hairdresser.

That's actually kind of a neat twist and one that makes me interested in seeing what they're doing with the remake. Plus Kenneth Branagh is directing, so that's another positive mark. At least for me. What do you folks think?
