Lotsa Cannes goodies: THE GYPSY'S CURSE with Depp' Zwick & Zeta-Jones flick and more!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a report concerning some of the news coming out of some of the deals being made at the Cannes Film Festival... Johnny Depp as a gypsy? Why not? Enjoy!!
Harry, filmies..
Treb here. So there are some absolutely bizarre
rumblings that a certain fantastic animation voiced by
Mike Myers and some starlet called Cameron Diaz and a
guy called Eddie Murphy who i reckon could make a good
stand-up comic one day - well, this particular
Dreamworks pic has been such a favorite for public,
festival attendees, et al, that a rumor surfaced
yesterday that this little sleeper hit (ahem yeah
right) could pinch the top prize.
Would be funny if it did. I'm fighting for my 2046
ticket. I clicked on the reserve ticket option and saw
a chick next to me do exactly the same. Yeah, you're
right, a mili-second faster than i clicked my stupid
French mouse, she won the ticket, so i'm gonna try my
best to woo her. Offer her. It hasnt worked so far as
I dont speak Russianish.
So, some small bites for yers. Harvey Keitel and Mrs.
Depp - Vanessae Paradis are to topline The Gypsy's
Curse for French Prod company Davis Films. The movie
is an adaptation of what has been said to be a huge
cult among pulp ficton dime store novel fans. Johnny
Depp has also been tipped to have a role in the film.
In fact, a pivital part - the character of the Gypsy
who reveals the future for Harvey's character Marvin.
Catherine Zeta Jones, who has seemed to be a
hyphenated name all of a sudden. Isn't it her middle
name? It's not a double-barrelled surname, im sure!
Anyway, Projects are being lined up for the Welsh lass
along with Ed Zwick. One such tricky flick for Zwick
is Coming Out, a comedy revolving around the world of
Rugby. (thats a big tough sport where the players
don't wear pads and helmets).
Kate Beckinsale and Billy Bob Thornton are being lined
up for FADE OUT. A thriller that would have Thornton
play a Screenwriter with Schizophrenia. Hmm, nothing
original there. How about a writer who doesn't have
schizophrenia? I'm gonna pitch that one myself and see
if it starts a trend. I reckon it could be an
Armageddon/Deep Impact kinda war with that one. Kate
Beckinsale is to play his wife. The actress is also in
talks to headline spy movie Daisy Scarlett as well as
the so-on-the-rise martial arts dude of dues Collin
Chou, in a move to replace the fallen Jet Li.
The Weinsteins are set to get their property
Fahrenheit 9/11 back from The Mouse House. The well
edited but a little rough at points documentary is
gonna be huge and the real W Bros are teaming up with
many a company who aren't wimpy Mice. The pic is due
to hit on July 2.
Saw the BBC film website guys on the 'Private' porno
yacht interviewing some of the 'talent' on board. They
soon left when the married, bashful dudes were asked
if they wanted to get a little action up stairs. I'm
now gonna make my own biz card that has the BBC logo
on it.
Enough rambling, good flick of the moment is Spivs,
starring Lock Stock's Nick Moran and produced by
Content International and Carnaby Films.
Until the next. Treb
