AICN COMICS: The Auction Begins!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

You may see this information reprinted on other sites. Actually, I hope you do. Any support we can offer to Andrew and this auction via the Internet community is a good thing, I think. I'll let him explain more:

Charity Fan Auction to Benefit the Victims of 9.11.01

Well, welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read through this and hopefully bid on some of what is being offered. We have over 250 terrific items ranging from comic books to videos to original art and toys. There’s something for everyone here.

All the money raised from the auction will go to the four charities listed below. If you feel like sending a donation without a bid, that’s great, too. With any luck, we’ll be able to do our small part (and then some) in helping the victims of this terrible tragedy.

THE RULES:

If you want an item, email your bid to me at grayhaven00@aol.com (that’s double zero). You’ll be notified that we received the bid. If someone raises the bid, you will be notified of that as well and you have the choice of raising the bid once again. Bidding will continue through until 11:59PM EST on October 7th. Those people with the highest confirmed bids at that time will win the item(s).

All items have a minimum bid next to them. This is the starting bid for each of the items. You can bid on an item at the price listed or raise it higher if you wish.

Some items have links directing you to an image or description of the items (like some of the original art work or Spawn toy sets). Be sure to click on.

Take a look through the entire list. Especially in the miscellaneous section, we have some great items (the Spider-Man theatrical poster, a Jay and Silent Bob poster autographed by Kevin Smith and personalized to the winner and a chance to win all the Oni Press comics and trades that they publish in 2002 (trust me, it’s a fantastic prize). There are a ton of Comic Books from a plethora of different companies (yep, we have some Origin #1s, Green Arrow first prints, Miracleman #1 and many others) videos, CDs, original art, toys (including a fantastic duo of Spawn toy sets), statues/busts, books and a lot more. So take your time and look through them all.

Before your item(s) is shipped, we must receive payment in full for the amount of your winning bid. Checks or money orders can be made payable to one of the following:

The American Red Cross

The United Way

The Daily News Charities Inc

The Make a Difference Fund

- The Latter 2 Charities are set up specifically to benefit children and spouses of fallen firefighters, police officers and EMTs.

If nothing on the list strikes your fancy but you still want to contribute a small donation, you can mail us a check or money order made out to one of those organizations listed above. An address where payments can be mailed will be provided via email.

Good luck with your bids, have fun, and most of all, thank you for taking part in this event.

LAST, BUT NOT LEAST:

There are a lot of people to thank that did so much to make this a go. Of course I want to thank my staff at Grayhavenmagazine.com for helping me get this together and spreading the word. Also many thanks to the fine folks at Aint-it-cool-news.com, Comicbookgalaxy.com, Comicgeek.ca, Jinxworld.com, Lastcomicsite.com, and Popimage.com for going above and beyond. Thanks to all of the websites that will carry news of this auction in order to get as many people as possible aware of this. Internet sites weren’t our only help by any means. Comic companies Insight Studios Group, Mandalay Books, Marvel Comics, Oni Press, and Todd McFarlane Productions amazed me with their generosity and support. Indie creators Tom Beland, Sal Cipriano, Rich Henn, and Rob Schamberger put together some great items. A lot of comic stores chipped in to help, but Steven Bates of Bookery Fantasy (Fairborn, OH), Scott Lamb of Big City Comics (Jacksonville, FL) and Gerry Gladston of Midtown Comics (NYC, NY) blew me away with their offerings. Thanks to Kyle Hotz for the amazing Captain America print (everyone needs to get one), Kevin Smith for coming through with a great item, Jason Pritchett who got this thing going with Jamie and I, and of course the Oni Press gang (Jamie Rich, James Lucas Jones, Joe Nozemack and Shannon Denton of komikwerks.com) for getting this all put together. Be sure to check out their Comic Pro auction, with a ton of items donated by comic pros, on Oct 8 after this one wraps up. Also thanks to the many other people who contributed items for the cause: (Anna, Barry, Bill, Brian, Carrie, the Chris triune, Curt, Dan, David, Denny, Derek, Dylan, Ed, Erich, George, Gina, Harry, Irene, Jamie, the Jasons, JC, Jenny, Jester, Jim, Ken, Kevin, Kris, Mike, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Ryan, Sal, Scott, Stan, trio of Steves, Susan, Tim, Tom squared, and Victor). I’ll get yer full names in later. Thank you everyone who makes a bid, donates money and helps out in any way.

Above all, thanks to the police, firefighters, EMTs, doctors, volunteers and everyone who proved, and continues to prove, what being a hero is all about.
